Eco-Flex – A Unique, Stock Molded Pulp Packaging Product

Eco Flex Molded Pulp ideal for bracing

I usually refer to molded pulp as having the highest “eco obvious” rating in that it is instantly recognized by consumers as being very eco friendly. Other sustainable packaging products do not enjoy that immediate recognition and acceptance, so molded pulp is a great packaging solution, when you are able to utilize it. The downside of most molded pulp products is that they typically require expensive tooling, designed for just one specific product or application, making it not very flexible … Read More

As you may know, Distant Village is a devout follower of 3BL sustainability, with an … Read More

California Plastic Bag Ban Loses in the Senate

Eco Bags

On August 31, 2010 the California Senate rejected AB 1998, a proposal to eliminate single use plastic bags. The ban, which passed the Assembly in June, would have eliminated single use plastic bags in grocery stores and pharmacies, starting in 2012 and in liquor and convenience stores in 2013. The proposal also included $2M in grants/loans for green businesses.

Why did this proposal fail? What do we learn? And how does this affect green packaging going forward?
